Introducing Valuable, New Chemistry Education Resources
Rochester, NY (PRWeb) April 5, 2007 -- The exacting science of chemistry requires attention to detail and strict adherence to guidelines and regulations. Management and organization of all the necessary technical data can be taxing for teachers to maintain.
For the ease and convenience of chemistry educators, ScholAR Chemistry partnered with the Charles A. Dana Center at the University of Texas at Austin to create a comprehensive, user-friendly reference that's now available to the entire education community for free.
Newly expanded, the ScholAR Chemistry Resource Manual offers teachers a fully updated source of information on current safety regulations, laboratory management procedures, full checklists for constructing safe science facilities, helpful hints for using MSDS, and more. A veritable "how to" guide for teachers, this reference provides tips and techniques to ensure a safe and productive chemical laboratory.
A breadth of information is covered in one compact source, in addition to a full chemical listing from ScholAR and a variety of teacher demonstrations and AP Chemistry lab activities. The manual is the result of a collaborative effort between the Charles A. Dana Center and ScholAR Chemistry, two organizations committed to establishing safe and efficient chemistry classrooms and laboratories to educate the next generation of scientists.
In addition to the manual's expansive resources and tools, ScholAR offers online support. The new Web site, www.scholarchemistry.com, connects teachers to personalized technical assistance. After submitting a technical question by e-mail, teachers will promptly receive a response from ScholAR's expert in-house technicians. MSDS are available online for every ScholAR chemical and the current version of the ScholAR Resource Manual is available for download. The Web site also provides access to ScholAR's complete product line through its exclusive distributors -- Boreal Northwest, Sargent-Welch, Science Kit, and Ward's Natural Science. With two new resources to aid chemistry teachers, ScholAR Chemistry will prove the educator's one reliable academic resource for chemicals and more.
ScholAR Chemistry is sold exclusively through distributors -- Boreal Northwest, Sargent-Welch, Science Kit, and Ward's Natural Science. Playing With Fire - Homeland Security Funds High School Chemistry Lessons
The Chemistry of Fire program is being sent to high schools nationwide at no cost to them. The program is a partnership between The Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) and Discovery Education, and is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. It will teach students the science behind fire as a way for students to fully understand the dangers of fire.

Chemistry is the study of matter and its interactions with other matter and energy. Chemistry is the study of matter. Like physicists, chemists study the fundamental properties of matter and they also explore the interactions between matter and energy. Chemistry is a science, but it is also used in human communication and interaction, cooking, medicine, engineering, and a host of other disciplines. Although people use chemistry every day with no apparent problem, if the time comes to take a course in chemistry in high school or college, many students are filled with dread. Don't be! Chemistry is manageable and even fun. I've compiled some study tips and resources to make your encounter with chemistry easier.
